The 11th Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA 2025) is set to honour innovation, leadership, and outstanding service in Nigeria’s health sector at a prestigious ceremony scheduled for June 27, 2025, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.
Key dignitaries expected at the event include Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Katsina State Governor Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, and the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako.
Organized by Global Health Projects & Resources (GHPR) in collaboration with the Anadach Group (USA), NHEA is widely regarded as the “Oscars of Nigerian Healthcare” and annually celebrates excellence across various sectors of the Nigerian health system.
This year, Governor Dikko Radda will be conferred a Special Recognition Award for his transformative healthcare reforms in Katsina State that have significantly improved access to quality health services.
Lifetime Achievement Honours
Two eminent healthcare professionals will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award:
- Dr. (Pharm.) Philip Onagwele Emafo, a renowned pharmaceutical scientist and former President of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB).
- Dr. Olukayode Akinlade, recognized for decades of impactful contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
Special Recognition Awards
Other individuals and institutions to be honoured include:
- Afrimedical Manufacturing and Supplies Ltd., for advancing local syringe production and healthcare self-reliance.
- ABUAD Multisystem Hospital, praised for quality care, innovation, and excellence in patient services.
- Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady of Lagos State, for the Jumejilo Multi-Birth Assistance Programme (JMAP), a milestone maternal and neonatal initiative.
- Mrs. Olushola Aketi, Director of Lagos State Nursing Services, for leadership in nursing and midwifery advancement.
- Dr. Ebere Okereke, recipient of the Diaspora Excellence Award, for global public health leadership and pandemic preparedness across Africa.
Over 100 nominees have been shortlisted across 29 competitive categories, with public voting concluded on June 15, 2025. Winners will be revealed during the event.
